Tim Southall: Tim Southall creates wondrous, original prints, of observation, wit and imagination. A sugarlift aquatint is a process whereby the image is painted onto a copper plate. The plate is then coated in acid resistant varnish and finally immersed into boiling water. The hot water dissolves the sugar solution causing the varnish to ‘lift’ and expose the drawing ready to etch.

The process is highly complex and skilled. To best appreciate these pieces it is advisable to research artists’ printmaking. Each Aquatint is an original Tim Southall, work of art.
