Heather Orton

Heather Orton Artist

At the age of fourteen, for all the usual personal reasons, Heather declined a scholarship to the Hornsey College of Art.

She moved to Hertforshire in her early thirties and found that she was at last, in a position to follow her passion for painting. She became regularly exhibited and was quickly spotted and represented by revered Hitchin art dealer, Carole Thomas.

Mostly self-taught, Heather Orton is somewhat of watercolour purist! She creates tender contemporary pieces with traditional discipline.

Using the highest quality materials she creates the tenderest of studies, reflecting her passion for nature and its healing quietness.

Her brushstrokes are fluid and spontaneous, heavily inspired by Sargent, Whistler and Potter.

Although now enjoying a busy retirement, Heather continues to paint.
